Web 3.0 technology stack

The next evolution of the internet is well under way. As consumers are demanding more privacy and ownership of data, technology and concepts such as blockchain and decentralization are becoming increasingly popular. Many of those ideas fall under a description of the next phase of the internet known as Web 3.0.

Web 3.0’s vision is to foster cutting-edge applications for decentralized web software protocols in order to create a fair internet where users control their data, identity, and destiny.

The Web 3.0 technology stack is a robust collection of infrastructure, protocols, user applications, and access points. The stack can be visualized in the picture below:

The bottom 3 levels are different technologies that make up Web 3.0. They allow for decentralization and privacy/ownership of data for the user. The second level is for developers to implement the technology of the bottom 3 levels into programs for users. Finally, the top-level is for the user to interact with the program.

Web 3.0 developers and enthusiasts believe in an internet where users, not companies, control their data, and where all information is secure and decentralized.
