Espresso Systems - Privacy Solution for Web3
Espresso Systems is a Web3 privacy solution. It prioritizes privacy and decentralization, and its Layer1 chain will use ZK-Rollups to achieve higher throughput and lower costs.
Espresso Systems differentiates itself from other privacy solutions for its customizable configuration. Specifically, Espresso Systems plans to develop a Configurable Asset Privacy (CAPE) smart contract application on Ethereum that allows asset creators on the blockchain to customize who can see specific information and is intended to offer creators customizable privacy regarding sender and receiver addresses and the amount and type of assets held or in movement. For example, token ownership and asset transaction details, all of which can be set public, private, or transparent only to selected parties.
This solution helps financial institutions or money services businesses create blockchain-based assets, as it allows them to balance their clients’ needs for privacy with institutional needs for risk management and compliance.
Espresso Systems is developing a solution to maximize throughput while maintaining decentralized data availability by tightly integrating the ZK-Rollup scaling mechanism with our proof-of-stake consensus protocol from the start. The fact that the Espresso ZK-Rollup is natively integrated with consensus—and does not need to treat it as a black box—is what will enable Espresso to avoid the trade-off of other designs which approach the rollup as a separate modular component agnostic to the underlying consensus protocol.
Espresso Systems has raised a total of $35.1M in funding. Ben Fisch, is the co-founder and CEO of Espresso Systems.
