Cauldron Studios - the "Pixar" of Web3
A number of crypto gaming firms have ramped up production in the past years with hopes of revolutionizing the growing industry. Adding to the list is London-based gaming firm Cauldron, which plans on becoming the âPixar of web3 '' through a key element: storytelling. Cauldron believes that storytelling is a big bit missing from web3. Without storytelling the founders believe that the gamers donât have a reason to come back. Â They focus on Pixar not because of aesthetics, but because Pixar created a recipe of storytelling with âToy Storyâ. Cauldron wants to create a recipe with their own Project Nightshade and wants to repeat that and make many worlds.
Cauldron plans to release three different gaming worlds to the public: Two worlds have a fantasy angle, while one world is focused on science fiction. Entertainment in Web3 is about ownership of assets. If designing is not about owning a part of a universe then existing entertaining canât translate to that.
Characters in normal entertainment are developed and observed by viewers, but Cauldron imagines an empty world where they land those characters in there and the gamers get to define those origin stories, villains, heroes and create their own version of âStar Wars,â âGame of Thronesâ and watch it evolve. This Cauldron believes is the new form of entertainment. Â
Cauldronâs focus is purely on making their [virtual] worlds more accessible to people. They are doing it through the web3 space because people really feel the sense of wanting to own things on the internet and owning a bit of a world, like owning a bit of âLord of the Ringsâ or owning a bit of âStar Wars.â Now gamers will be able to do so with a new IP address. Â Â
Cauldron Studios was founded by Mark Warrick, Fox Rogers and Matt Hyde. They have raised a total of $8M in funding.
